About this sport
Judo is a Japanese martial art and Olympic sport based on throws, ground holds and the art of falling safely, the ukemi, which is taught from the very first class. Learning follows a belt progression and emphasizes mutual respect and controlled practice with a partner. Judo develops balance, coordination, strength and confidence, and it is one of the most practiced martial arts in the world, particularly for children. Adults can begin at any age in dedicated beginner groups. In Morocco, judo has a long history and a national federation with clubs in most cities, and Moroccan judokas have won African and international medals.
